Lodge Elections and Monthly meeting

At the upcoming meeting on Sunday November 12, 2023 at 9:00am, we will be opening up nominations for elected board positions for Lodge 21. Though I do not know of any current board members who plan on stepping down from their positions, we have to open it up for anyone who chooses to run for a position with the executive board or the board of trustees. To be clear the following positions are executive board positions: President, Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sgt. At Arms. The following facilities will have a trustee position on the board of trustees: HDSP, FMWCC, SDCC, NNCC, ESP, Lovelock Correctional Center, and Stein Mental Hospital. The current Trustee positions that are filled are HDSP- Jonathan Allen-Ricksecker and NNCC- Don Hicks, who I believe will be pursuing the 2nd Vice President Position. The Trustees will be the go to points of contact for each facility. They will be responsible to obtain and communicate issues from their facilities to communicate with the executive board. The stewards at each facility will assist and report to the trustees any issues that require further attention of the union. If more than one member submits their intentions to run for any of the executive board or board of trustee positions, there will be a run off and a vote by the membership. There are requirements and prohibitions to run for these positions. Paramount of each is attendance at monthly meetings. The Supervisor committee has just been appointed, so there will be no elections at this time. Moving forward, we will work with the committee to develop an election process for the supervisors on the committee. I would like to stress to all of you who may have aspirations of running for a position on either board, this is a lot of work. You will be called on to give your own time to work on the Lodge business as needed. It is not always convenient and it is a calling. We currently attend to 747 members' issues, contract issues, and any number of NDOC issues. Personal issues get left at the door when you check in to work these positions. If you cannot do this, it is not the right calling for you. The zoom info is below.

It may be a good idea to not have all the positions open for election at the same time. Is it possible to stagger the election?

If we changed the bylaws. There are requirements to run for office, but the only people that have met them are current board members and trustees.
