Greetings,
Dave Moody asked that I reach out to various local lodges and gain some consensus on whether our State FOP should continue to partner with the LVPPA, partner with NAPSO or go off on our own with respect to how we endorse political candidates. Currently, all three organizations are part of a coalition for all bargaining units. The PPA wants to break off on their own. The issues at hand are pretty complicated between all of the unions and bargaining units right now, however partnering with other organizations has its benefits and drawbacks. I would like input from all of our members submitted in the comments section of this blog. Your opinion matters and the majority opinion will be submitted tomorrow Friday June 19th for the State Lodges consideration. To be clear the options are continue to partner with PPA which is metros Union, partner with NAPSO which has members from other state agencies, or stand alone as FOP. Thank you for your participation.

I say stand alone and we can pick which group to lobby with issue by issue.
Stand alone so we don’t lose any members to a political point that might not be shared by others. Case in point never particularly cared for any of the ones AFSCME ever backed.
I say stand alone let’s focus on what we need not others
This is only for pooling support for political endorsements. So if all of our organizations wish for a certain candidate to win a spot in office, we would endorse that candidate encourage our people to vote for them etc. This gives all organizations better numbers to support candidates and lobby for our agendas. However, we would be married to them in endorsing candidates to a degree.
I dont know much about metro's union. Please explain how that works more and that would benefit us. Would their union actually stand up for us and fight for us just as much as they do for metro. Or would we just be paying dues and get left behind. I don't quite know what I'm voting for here.
