Any update on getting 12's back? I haven't heard any updates since early March. Last I heard was, a judgement was to be made within 45 days. If possible, can we get an update on the current status?
I feel like all that anybody on the yard is concerned about is getting our 12 hour shifts back. Going to 8s has negatively impacted the lives of just about everyone on the yard. Although we appreciate everything else that you guys are trying to do I think that this should be the main focus because you can’t put a price of the quality of life.
We understand and appreciate what you all are dealing with, but we already fought the arbitration, there is nothing we can do to make the decision get delivered any sooner. You also need to understand that we are trying to lobby for funding for the CBA, that affects all of the facilities throughout the state.
Believe me I will post the award from the arbitrator as soon as I get it. To stay informed make sure you have the app from our website in your phone to stay updated with our blog.
You think so? You must have a short memory. We won the arbitration, the funding is out of our hands. The arbitrator can take as much time as they need and there is nothing we can do about it. Over 40% in total compensation increases just two years ago, and we are always losing? How many union meetings have you been to in order to help us “win”? I am literally monitoring the senate sessions right now trying to do something about AB 596 and what are you doing? You have gotten nothing in return from the union? You find me a union that is doing more for their members, so I can learn from them. You’ll have to excuse my tone and lack of patience, the ungratefulness is more than I can take right this second.
I understand your frustration and there is obviously frustration on both sides. From where we stand, as officers, where are receiving very little concrete information and are stuck trying to receive updates through rumors and inference. Not implying that you are not working, but rather that it feels like we not receiving information in a direct manner ( specifically on the 12's). I was told by several people that the arbitrator had 45 days to make a decision. If that was incorrect then i apologize. As for my comment about losing i was referring to your previous post where you stated," the CBAs including ours, was amended to void all compensation benefits from all of the CBAs, with the exception of retention pay. The Assembly said in a loud clear voice, you got nothing coming." I'm not trying to be ungrateful and i apologize if it was perceived that way, Tensions are extremely high right now and morale is incredibly low on the yard right now
I'm not trying to come off as rude or ungrateful, its just that it seems like we are being kept in the dark on this issue and we are stuck attempting to balance personal lives and work.
We are all good brother! I just posted about tonight’s meeting call in if you can. We are trying to salvage AB 596. I suggest coming to our meetings and monitoring the website via the mobile app or our FB page. I try to keep everyone informed that way.

We are still waiting on the arbitrators decision.
