Backpay/stale claims

From our worthy Vice President:

Good morning FOP brothers and sisters! I have received all of your back pay/stale claim emails. More come in everyday! My pledge to all of you is that I will include all of your emails in my US Department of Labor federal grievance. I have tried playing nice with these people. Now is the time to remind the state of Nevada that WE ARE THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS  AND WE MAKE  IT RUN.

Also,  the state of Nevada is not the only entity exempt from the fair labor standards act in the US. When mandy bowsmith, the head of the labor relations unit for Nevada, said to me on a statewide meeting with Lodge 21, "Thompson if you want your money you can come learn payroll," my resolve to expose the state for its malpractice was cemented.

Please be patient as this process will go slower than we want. But rest assured I will not rest until the state has been shamed into paying the hardworking Peace Officers of the NDOC the money they are owed!

Best regards,

Michael A. Thompson

I was just looking at my upcoming check that would be paid on Jan. 5th and noticed that I haven't been credited any sick hours, under earned sick hours says 0.00. This probably affects others as well.

Be advised this is my second Department of Labor filing. Some years ago lieutenant rivera stole money from my paycheck, thereby stealing money from my family. I filed the DOL grievance against him and the state with no outside help and had him investigated. I received my money in 2 pay periods. I did this alone and asked for no help. Problem, action, solution. I would have filed this grievance alone too but given my values and the position I am now in I felt it my honored duty to represent my brothers and sisters. In my humble opinion I not only have the responsibility but the representative POWER to solve this exponentially larger problem.

I will say this to…

The State should be held to the highest accountability possible as they hold us. Absolutely no excuse for the way they do us Officers. If they're short staffed in accounting oh well that's not Officers problems, we did not apply for accounting nor should any Officer be shown accounting as again it is not up to us to pay us for the line of work we all sacrifice to do.

Sounds like they shall be sued! The state needs to be checked. These people must be stopped, they can’t be just doing whatever they want because they are state. I’m also curious why i was told by FOP when i was wronged by not being paid for things I should have and I mention the dept of labor I was told I could not go through them because I had a union.

Replying to

I almost went on my own to the Labor Board until I saw the post that Thompson was taking it to the Labor Board, so I figured it is best with the fop than on my own.
