Max move to HDSP

I would like to let you all know that this transition is not viewed or being handled lightly by FOP. We sat down for a meeting with the Director and DDO and we were absolutely disgusted at the complete lack of thorough planning. When we brought up our concerns with them, they did not give us satisfactory answers as to the safety, training, and equipment for our officers. They half assed the meeting like FOP wasn’t going to do anything about it. At one point the Director decided to turn his negativity toward me and attempted to insult me personally. We told them we have a problem with this “plan” and they predictably carried on as if we were not going to do something about it. Well my brothers and sisters, pardon me, but FUCK THAT! I sent a demand to negotiate over safety to the LRU along with a very pointed and detailed statement outlining the Directors incompetence and failure as a leader, that not only went to the LRU, but the Governor, his Chief of Staff, and the AG. I reminded them that they would face severe public scrutiny by the voters if any of our officers are hurt or killed due to their negligence. They didn’t even have a date for their training curriculum to be complete! What has happened since then, is training has begun at HDSP. Word is that now the move is on hold. I do not have an update on certification for launchers or additional equipment. Let me be clear, this does not satisfy our concerns and we will push this all the way to an arbitration if it becomes necessary. FOP will not rest until all available precautions have been taken, equipment is in place, and all officers are brought up to speed on Max custody procedures and safety measures.

Now, with that comes an individual responsibility of each and every officer. All of my HDSP brothers and sisters, please take the training very seriously, because this caliber of inmate will not just run their mouths behind a door. They play for keeps and will try to kill you over disrespect. The last thing I ever want to hear is that one of our officers is severely injured or killed. We all have a responsibility on the job to look out for each other. Do not cut corners, do not assume safety or security, ensure all the T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted. If someone pressures you to hurry up, you tell them to pound sand and follow all safety protocols. Someone tells you to run normal OPs when you’re short the minimum staffing? You run that shit ALL the way up the chain and get someone to witness their statements if they won’t put it in writing. This is Life or Death and we will hold the state accountable! I will update you as more information becomes available. Be safe and take care of each other!
