NNCC 12's arbitration decision

We have received the arbitrator's decision on the change from 12 hour shifts to 8 hour shifts at NNCC. Unfortunately on the issue of the states ability to change shifts mid contract without negotiating, the arbitrator has ruled against us. The decision was narrowly related to the State of Nevada's ability to choose the shift and the contract language that we felt did not permit them to go from 12's back to 8's. We are continuing our efforts to get all facilities the shifts that they would prefer and I have already reached out to the head of the LRU to begin a different conversation regarding 12's. The following is a message from our worthy 2nd Vice President, Brother Don Hicks:
We regret to inform you that the arbitrator has ruled in favor of the employer regarding the 12-hour shift grievance at NNCC. This decision means that, for now, our officers are likely to continue the current schedule in place.
While this outcome is disappointing, it does not mark the end of our fight. We remain steadfast in our commitment to advocate for officer wellness and the implementation of 12-hour shifts, which we believe offer a more sustainable and balanced work schedule.
We hear your concerns. We see the toll this is taking. And we will not stop pushing for change that respects the dignity and well-being of every officer.
Don Hicks
