What is the FOP Difference, you ask? Let me tell you about one of our brothers who has been put through the wringer. Officer Zysman took down an inmate who was resisting and refusing to follow orders. The technique he used, was what he was trained to do. This happened like a year ago. In the following months, our brother was terminated from the NDOC and charged criminally.
So after countless offers for him to take a plea deal, they were all set to go to trial later this year. A trial where his freedom would rest in the hands of a jury, all for doing his job as he was trained. Thankfully, he became an FOP member before this incident occurred. The FOP Legal Defense Plan has been paying all of his attorney fees this entire time and his capable attorney has done a fantastic job in weathering the storm from the Attorney General’s Office. The criminal charges against our brother have been dismissed.
Now the FOP Legal Defense Plan will pay for his admimistrative attorney to fight his arbitration in order to get his job back. More than likely his total attorney fees will total somewhere in the $50-$75K range by the time it is all said and done. No approval from the Lodge 21 board members necessary. If you are a covered member when the incident occcurs and you want to fight your case, you will have an attorney to fight your case. Big thank you to his criminal attorney John Arrascada and future thanks to his administrative attorney Adam Levine.
If you haven’t joined, don’t wait until it is too late. Your freedom may depend on it some day. Again, he did his job as he was trained and the state still came after him. Can you afford to fight cases like this after being fired? This is the FOP DIFFERENCE!!
