We have THE BEST members

As I wrap up my road trip tomorrow at NNCC and Lakes Crossing, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what I have experienced at all of the facilities so far. I have had conversations with FOP members at almost every major facility across Nevada. (HDSP, I will get to you as well) I must say I am astounded at the positivity, unity, and support that all of you have expressed towards me. All I ever hear is how disgruntled, angry, negative, and apathetic you all are. Nothing could be further from the truth. You all welcomed me, as I shook your hands and we talked about issues you are facing. You all treated me like a family member, that you hadn’t seen in a while. You showered me with thank yous and appreciation, while we navigated many topics with consideration and understanding. I truly felt the love at every stop along the way. I am grateful for the time I had at your facilities.

Yes, we have issues to address at each facility. Yes, we have to keep the progress going. Do not for a second listen to the negativity from anyone. Not an administrator, not a fellow employee, and not the outside world that doesn’t understand what our world is like. Do not let anyone tear us apart. Our strength in solidarity should be marveled at. Our resilience in the face of difficult and often extremely violent situations is a miracle on its own. All of US are family and believe it or not, WE are the envy of other agencies, both in Nevada and other states.

Show all of your fellow brothers and sisters the same love that you showed me. Be there for them when they struggle, be understanding when they fall, and when you reach out to help them up, let them know that they are not alone. I am so grateful for each officer, forensic specialist, and supervisor that took the time to welcome me into your facility over the past few weeks. I am truly humbled by this experience and I have never been more proud and honored to serve as your president! Thank you from the botttom of my heart!
