First Responder Wellness

I had the pleasure of touring the First Responder Wellness Program in Newport Beach, CA last week. I can say that I was very impressed with the facilities, the conditions they treat, and the fact that this program only treats first responders. They treat PTSD, addiction, suicidal ideation, depression, and gambling addiction to name a few. There are no civilians in this program, which makes it one of very few that are exclusive to first responders. After talking with some mental healt clinicians, they were very supportive of the models used for treatment and the Equine(Horse Therapy) program that they offer. This is a great opportunity for any of our brothers and sisters to get the treatment they need in an environment that is much more effective for treating first responders. They report a 90% return to work rate for the first responders that they treat. There are also zoom support groups posted on this page, also first responder only. I have also included applicable NRS for workers comp reporting, if you sustain an on the job mental injury. These reporting requirements are slightly different from the on the job physical injury requirements.
