Above is the link to our FOP PAC Fund. For those of you who do not know what a PAC Fund is, it is a Political Action Committee fund that enables us to use funds for endorsements and related political activities. Why is this important? A healthy PAC fund balance is attractive to politicians when seeking endorsement and reelection. This attracts politicians to organizations in order to work with them to accomplish legislation that will benefit the members of the organization. The reason why they care about this is multi faceted. In our case politicians like working with public safety organizations and gaining support from these organizations ultimately benefits them in future elections. Why is it important to you? Lodge 21 has gained influence through working with legislators over the years and also our recent endorsement process. The trickle down to our membership is what we saw happen during the last negotiation cycle. We won our arbitration, yet the legislature was unable to fund the award due to a list of factors, including time constraints. This time around, we are done with arbitration an the funding process will be much longer, giving us far more opportunities to advocate for legislation and funding if necessary. While we hope to have the full support of the governor and legislature in our endeavors, we have to be ready for the alternative. How can you help? FOP is asking you to set up a monthly donation of $10, via the link above. If all of our members can donate just $10 a month, we will have a substantial amount of resources available for our organization to advocate on behalf of our members.
