8 Hours Shifts
Does anyone have any clue as to how overtime works for 8 hour shifts? Is it 4 hours before and after? I work swing shift (1-9) and certainly getting handed the short end of the stick by being put on 5pm-5am for covering a scheduled Graveyard shift. If Graveyard calls in, am I supposed to work a double? does the shift that needs covering get split? The only response I've gotten is "Day shift looks too tired when they come in for a 1am-1pm shift." When graveyard calls out.

If you were moved from 1-9 to 5p-5a than you are just working a 12 hr. post.
If they are making you work your regular shift til 9p and then having you stay until 5 a, then you are just doing a double at 16 hrs. With 8 of it as OT.
